By now, we have all heard that last Saturday a freight-train from Maine crashed into a bordering town in Quebec, Canada. The subsequent explosion of the volatile cargo this American-owned iron horse carried had devastated the lives of the kin folks there forever. The death toll from this disastrous mishap can reach 60 in this picturesque town of 6,000
Then on that same fateful day, there was another crash of a different sort. In a perfect summer afternoon, an airplane carrying more than 300 passengers landed at the San Francisco Airport on her bellies. The outcome of this devastated incident in San Francisco could be worse. But the painful challenge the families of the two deceased teenagers suffered will last forever.
At the moment no one can pin down what had caused these live and death events to occur. It does look to me that our world has become a more hazardous place. Now these days people could get killed while dreaming away in their own home! - Ayee

茄子有七大養生功效

一、抗衰老
茄子含有維生素E，有防止出血和抗衰老功能，常吃茄子，可使血液中膽固醇水平不致增高，對延緩人體衰老具有積極的意義。皂，只要用手輕搓后，用清水沖凈，放在陰涼通風處陰乾。
二、清熱解毒
用於熱毒癰瘡、皮膚潰瘍、口舌生瘡、痔瘡下血、便血、衄血等。
中醫學認為，茄子屬於寒涼性質的食物。所以夏天食用，有助於清熱解暑，對於容易長痱子、生瘡癤的人，尤為適宜。消化不良，容易腹瀉的人，則不宜多食，正如李時珍在《本草綱目》中所說：“茄性寒利，多食必腹痛下利。”《滇南本草》記載，茄子能散血、消腫、寬腸。所以，大便於結、痔瘡出血以及患濕熱黃疸的人，多吃些茄子，也有幫助，可以選用紫茄同大米煮粥吃。《本草綱目》介紹，將帶蒂的茄子焙乾，研成細末，用酒調服治療腸風下血；《滇南本草》主張用米湯調服，更為妥當，因為腸風下血和痔瘡出血，都不宜用酒。把帶蒂茄子焙乾，研成細末，更常作外用。
三、治療凍瘡
取冬天地裡的茄子秧(連根)兩三棵用水煎，水開之后再煮20分鐘，用此水泡洗凍瘡患處，同時用茄子秧擦洗患處，二至三次可治愈。
四、降血壓
茄子有良好降低高血脂，高血壓功效，具體方法如下：
選用深色長條型，切成段或者絲，用麻醬以醬油調拌而成，在晚餐時分，服用可有效降低和自愈。
五、保護心血管、抗壞血酸
茄子含豐富的維生素P，這種物質能增強人體細胞間的粘着力，增強毛細血管的彈性，減低毛細血管的脆性及滲透性，防止微血管破裂出血，使心血管保持正常的功能。此外，茄子還有防治壞血病及促進傷品愈合的功效。
六、防治胃癌
茄子含有龍葵鹼，能抑制消化系統腫瘤的增殖，對於防治胃癌有一定效果。此外，茄子還有清退癌熱的作用。
七、消腫止痛
具有清熱止血，消腫止痛的功效。
茄子的吃法
葷素皆宜。既可炒、燒、蒸、煮，也可油炸、涼 拌、做湯，都能烹調出美味可口的菜餚。吃茄子建議不要去皮，它的價值就在皮裏面，茄子皮裏面含有維生素B，維生素B和維生素C是一對很好的搭檔，我們攝入了充足的維C，這個維C的代謝過程中是需要維生素B的支持的。果蔬顔色的不同總暗示獨特的營養。
茄子拌着吃最健康
茄子是少有的紫色蔬菜，營養價值也是獨一無二。它含多種維生素以及鈣、磷、鐵等礦物質元素。特別是茄子皮中含較多的維生素P，其主要成分是蕓香甙及兒茶素、橙皮甙等。常吃茄子(連皮) 對防治高血壓、動脈硬化、腦血栓、老年斑等有一定功效。茄子的吃法很多，但多數吃法烹調溫度較高、時間較長，不僅油膩，營養損失也很大。煎炸茄子維生素損失量可達50%以上。在茄子的所有吃法中，拌茄泥是最健康的。首先，拌茄泥加熱時間最短，只需大火蒸熟即可，因此營養損失最少。其次，拌茄泥用油最少，蒸好茄子搗成泥后，只需稍微淋一些調味汁即可。最后，拌茄泥的吃法營養吸收最完全，因為它不用削去茄子皮，而茄子皮中含有大量的生物活性物質。拌茄泥的調味汁最好用橄欖油、芝麻醬、蒜泥和少許鹽。橄欖油是毫無疑問的健康油，芝麻醬含有豐富的鈣、蛋白質和維生素，蒜泥有殺菌抗癌的功效。
茄子的美容功效
茄子又名落蘇、酷蘇，是以漿果為産品的草本植物，為茄科植物茄的果實，中醫認為茄子性味古寒，有散血瘀、消腫止疼、治療寒熱、祛風通絡和止血等功效。古代曾將茄子列入皇帝的膳單。茄子的營養價值豐富，其主要成分有葫蘆巴鹼、水蘇鹼、膽鹼、蛋白質、鈣、磷、鐵及VA、VB、VC，尤其是糖分含量較番茄高一倍，而茄子纖維還含一定量的皂草甙，並且在紫茄子含有較豐富的Vpp。
茄子皮同樣富含多種維生素，能夠保護血管，常食茄子，可使血液中的膽固醇含量不致增高，因而不易患黃疸病、肝臟腫大、動脈硬化等疾病。
